CarMax Opens in Waterbury

From CarMax: CarMax, Inc. (NYSE: KMX), the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, celebrated the grand opening of its 3rd store in Connecticut, located at 450 Captain Neville Drive in Waterbury. The Waterbury CarMax has the capacity to stock approximately 200 used vehicles of nearly every make and model. CarMax customers can also request transfers to Waterbury of almost any vehicle from other CarMax locations throughout the country.

In celebration of the Waterbury store opening, CarMax, Inc. and The CarMax Foundation awarded $8,000 in donations and grants to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury. CarMax associates from the Waterbury store recently volunteered with the nonprofit and nominated it to receive the contributions. The CarMax Foundation has granted more than $36 million on behalf of associates across the country since 2003.

“We have a lot of admiration for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and our Waterbury associates take pride in giving back to our local chapter,” said Wayne Lord, location general manager of the CarMax in Waterbury. “We are excited to open our third Connecticut store and look forward to providing the honest, high-integrity car-buying experience Waterbury customers know they can expect at CarMax.”

The CarMax Foundation will also be donating an Imagination Playground valued at more than $15,000 through its partnership with KaBOOM! focused on making play more accessible to children and families. Imagination Playgrounds are innovative, loose-parts playgrounds that engage kids in creative play that is physically challenging and collaborative. CarMax is currently identifying a recipient for the Imagination Playground and plans to present the donation this summer.
