NAUGATUCK, CT - The office of Mayor "Pete" Hess has released the COVID-19 Code Red Transcript for March 5, 2021.

Good afternoon,

Today is Friday March 5, the one-year anniversary of the formation of unified command. So, let's flashback a year. The virus was rampant in New York City. It was spreading to New Rochelle. We had a gun aimed at our head. We knew what was coming, but we didn't really know how it worked. At unified command, we started working every day, and we've been dealing with every complaint that has come in.

So where are we right now? Well, we've created our own vaccine clinic, and it's really running well, the people are friendly, it's very efficient. We're doing about 200 a day, we could do a lot more if we had more vaccines. We recognize the difficulties people have had with the phones. Just keep trying and be persistent. We also recommend that you keep trying to get the Naugatuck site.

If you can get into the Naugatuck site. We will find a way to make it work for you. We can register you right away now for your second shot so give that a shot. If you can't get in, try and register somewhere and get in and things will work out. We'll help you any way we can.

So, where is this going, going forward. Well, the governor is coming out with new protocols beginning March 19, it's going to impact capacity limits for most businesses. Things are going to start to open up, sports will be allowed to practice and compete, and we will be making progress.

We want to thank the citizens of Naugatuck for being compliant with the rules and doing a great job. So, let's always remember, we have to remain Naugy strong and Naugy smart.
