Gas Line Replacement to be Completed This Summer
Several lines have been replaced already.

Motorists and residents on the west side of Naugatuck only have a few more months of ongoing roadwork and detours to deal with.
The Yankee Gas Co. says its replacement of gas mains and gas service pipes off of the mains should be completed by the end of the summer.
The company has been working on gas line replacement for the past two years on the west side of town and is currently working on Millville Avenue, Fern Street, Cottage Street, North Hoadley Street and Hoadley Street. That project is supposed to be completed in July, while two others in the area are supposed to be completed in August.

“What we’re doing in Naugatuck is part of a system upgrade in Connecticut to continue to provide safe, reliable service for our customers,” said Theresa Gilbert, a Yankee Gas spokesperson.
In the past two years, gas lines have been replaced on a number of west side streets, including Fairchild Street, Malgari Court, Trowbridge Place, Highland Avenue, Dunn Avenue, Dayton Road, Summit Road, Millville Avenue (one section), Quinn Street, Chestnut Street, Park Avenue, May Avenue, Groves Street and Bridge Street.

Yankee Gas said its second project this summer will include replacing pipes on Hoadley Street, Aetna Street, Marshall Road, Hoadley Terrace and Pearl Road. It is expected to begin in July and end in August.
The final project, which is also slated to begin and end in July and August, includes Highland Avenue, Beebe Street and Goodyear Avenue.
“At this time we are evaluating some other areas of Naugatuck where we may be updating mains next year or the following year,” Gilbert said.
She said the company is working with Naugatuck’s Department of Public Works to coordinate repaving of roads. Yankee Gas plans to repave sections that it has dug up, Gilbert said.
