John's Pizza In Naugatuck Gets High Praise In Barstool Review
The long-time local pizza spot snagged a good rating from Barstool founder Dave Portnoy as part of his "One Bite Pizza Reviews."
NAUGATUCK, CT — For the second time in less than a week, Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy visited a Naugatuck pizzeria for his famous "one bite and everyone knows the rules," review.
On Dec. 26, Portnoy reviewed Mike's Pizza Palace at 28 Church St. which secured a 7.1 review from Debbie the Uber driver, and a 6.6 review from Portnoy. And on Dec. 24, John's Pizza Restaurant at 11 Rubber Ave. got a special visit from Portnoy and Debbie.
Debbie laughs as Portnoy botches saying "Naugatuck" and "Rubber Avenue." He calls it "Grubbert Street" and Debbie quickly corrects him.

Portnoy said they have everything inside the restaurant but before he took a bite he said he was concerned about the "over-cheese." After taking a bite of the pizza, Portnoy said it was "pretty good but it was an avalanche of cheese," and added that the "sauce has some good tang."
He added that there was "so much cheese, you could swim or drown in it...." Portnoy gave John's Pizza a 7.2 review. He said if there was less cheese it could be a high 7.
