Vampires are still hot – from movies to TV shows to books – and they return to the spotlight, but with a completely new twist, in "Vampires in a Recession," a new humor fiction novelette by author Nancy Sheila Ward – a native of Naugatuck, Connecticut now based in greater Boston.
Available in paperback on Amazon, the story takes place in historic Boston, where three vampire friends anxiously struggle to make ends meet in the ongoing financial recession. The story is told by a charismatic and highly-outspoken vampire named Ben, who thinks it's long overdue to shed light on the many vampire myths that mortals have been led to believe.

Ward's unique writing style cleverly and hilariously unveils the financial and emotional anxieties that Ben and his two vampire friends endure while the economic forecast remains gloomy. Their struggles are growing and, unfortunately, "vampire anxiety" is alive and well as the recession continues its stronghold.
"Being a vampire isn't easy," says Ben. "The fact is, it's just getting too expensive to be a vampire these days. Lenny, We might not have to pay life insurance premiums or prescription copays, but we do have to pay rent, utilities, and a lot of other living expenses!"
