Naugatuck Nature Trails Plan Takes Shape

The Naugatuck State Forest is a hidden gem, according to officials.

Borough officials are hoping to make the Naugatuck State Forest a destination for nature lovers by improving it trails and marketing site.

Mayor N. Warren “Pete” Hess envisions the park’s trails being used by hikers and enjoyed by families from the community and throughout the state, reports the Waterbury Republican-American.

To achieve this, Hess is proposing the creation of a dog park and other improvements to the trail system through the forest, including new recreational opportunities.
