Maine Oxy, New England's leading supplier of specialty gases, welding supplies and safety equipment, celebrated the opening of its newest Connecticut retail location.
Maine Oxy, New England’s leading supplier of specialty gases, welding supplies and safety equipment, celebrated the opening of its newest Connecticut retail location with a ribbon cutting and open house this week. The new store and gas filling plant is located at 11 Rado Drive, Naugatuck, CT in the borough’s industrial park. With support from the Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce, Naugatuck’s Mayor Bob Mezzo, local legislators and many vendors, Maine Oxy welcomed the entire community to their open house event featuring welding lessons and product demos.
Naugatuck’s Mayor Bob Mezzo kicked off the ribbon-cutting event on Thursday June 20 by cutting through Maine Oxy’s metal ribbon with a plasma cutter, after receiving a quick safety lesson. Maine Oxy’s local sales representative Michael Duffy then welcomed attendees by detailing Maine Oxy’s history and mission to train the next generation of welders. Lynn Ward, President and CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber and the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce spoke about Maine Oxy’s role in the community. State Representative Rosa Rebimbas, State Senator Joan Hartley, State Senator Joseph J. Crisco Jr. and Mayor Bob Mezzo also spoke to the attendees about the importance of bringing new business into the area and supporting education and training for students interested in welding and other trades.
In his welcome statement, Mayor Bob Mezzo said, “Maine Oxy, you’re coming to a great family of companies here within this industrial park. This industrial park has served this community well over many years and now you are the next member of its family. We stick together, we work together, we get through the hard times and through the prosperous times.”
Mayor Mezzo also said, “[Today is] a great day for Naugatuck, a great day for Maine Oxy. Welcome to the family and we look forward to many years of prosperity and partnership.”
Also present at the event was a group of 9th grade students from Emmett O’Brien Vocational Technical School. The students learned about welding techniques and safety and tried out their new skills in Maine Oxy’s Mobile Weld Training Center. For many of the students, this was their first hands-on experience with welding.
All attendees had an opportunity to meet the Maine Oxy team as well as vendors who supply Maine Oxy with top quality welding, cutting and safety supplies. Vendors included: Arcone, Bernard, Bugo, CK, Chemtane, Direct Wire & Cable, Dynaflux, Eagle Tools, ESAB, Hogan, Hypertherm, Lincoln Electric, Lenox, Maine Oxy Safety, MK Morse, Miller Electric, Pferd Abrasives, Revco, Smith, Steiner, Stronghands, Tilman and Weldcote Metals.
“We were thrilled to have such strong support from local leaders, community members and vendors at our open house and ribbon cutting event. We thank everyone who came out to welcome us to the community and we look forward to many amazing years growing business in Naugatuck,” said Dan Guerin, President of Maine Oxy.
The Naugatuck location is one of Maine Oxy’s 15 stores, and is the company’s third location in Connecticut. This facility is also Maine Oxy’s new southern gas pumping station. This new retail location and gas fill facility will help Maine Oxy better serve customers throughout southern New England.
