OAKVILLE, CT - Anthony Spagnoletti Jr., 88, of Oakville, was honorably discharged to heaven on Memorial Day, May 25, 2020, at Apple Rehabilition Center in Watertown. He was the loving husband of Marion (DiMaria) Spagnoletti.
Anthony was born in Waterbury on November 12, 1931, son of the late Antonio and Maria Josephine (Rossi) Spagnoletti. In 1952, Anthony enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he proudly served his faithful nation. On February 18, 1956, Anthony was honorably discharged with a National Defense Service Medal. For over 30 years, Anthony was the grocery manager at A & P Supermarkets, then worked for Anthony’s Market in Thomaston, and LaBonne’s Supermarket until his retirement in 2001. Anthony loved to bowl, golf, and watch UConn Men’s and Woman’s Basketball. Above all, family is what meant most to him.

Besides his wife Marion of Oakville, Anthony leaves behind to cherish his memory his three children, Karen Slater and her husband John of Waterbury, Anthony Spagnoletti III and his wife Tina of Wolcott, Joseph Spagnoletti and his wife Liz of Plantsville, a brother, John Spagnoletti and his wife Angeline of Middlebury, his sister, Mary Mascolo of Waterbury, two sisters-in-law, Maria Spagnoletti of Waterbury, Roseann Spagnoletti of Oakville, his five beloved grandchildren, Anthony Spagnoletti IV and his wife Nicole, Cara Spagnoletti, Rachel Pedalino and her husband Brian, Laura Spagnoletti, Kathleen Spagnoletti, his great grandson, Anthony Spagnoletti V, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Andrew, Richard, Thomas and Peter Spagnoletti, Helen Bandrowski, Ester Wadman, Bernice Zarrella, Carmella “Carol” Mascioli and Lucy DeVito.
The Spagnoletti family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Apple Rehab of Watertown as well as their wonderful residents for all of the kind and compassionate care they showed to him and his family and for the friendships that he made during his three years there.
Arrangements: Anthony has been laid to rest at New Pine Grove Cemetery in Waterbury. A Memorial Mass in Anthony's memory will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Oakville. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Anthony’s funeral arrangements.
