Obituary: Audrey Jean Souza, 80, of Terryville

Audrey Jean Souza, 80 of Terryville, loving and devoted wife of the late Donald “Don” J. Souza, peacefully passed away after a brief illness, Friday March 26th.

Audrey was born April 10, 1940 in Millinocket Maine and had been a long-time resident of Terryville CT for 58 years. She was the retired co-owner and accountant for her and her husband’s business, Jaysix Inc. for 23 years. Audrey volunteered for many organizations throughout her life, including The Fall Mountain Association, The Terryville Lions Club, but the volunteer position she was most proud of and most enjoyed was working for the Town of Plymouth as an election poll worker.

With her husband by her side, Audrey built their own paradise on the lake and loved living the lake lifestyle. She loved family gathering at her home, visiting and enjoying swimming and lakeside BBQs as the sounds of wind chimes filled the air. Audrey loved filling her home with memories and truly enjoyed adding pieces to her many collections.

Audrey was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is predeceased by her soul mate and loving husband Don Souza, her mother Everilda “Evy” Ciofani and brother-in-law, Robert Post. She is survived by her sons, Donald J Souza and wife, Gail of Berlin, Dale J Souza of Marlborough; her daughters, Nancy J. Souza and life partner, Keith Carpenter of Lee Maine, Audrey S. Carson and husband Jeff of South Windsor; her sisters Betty Post of West Chester PA, Loumay Becchetti and husband Richard of Sommerville SC and Sally MaCiver of Niagara Falls NY; her grandchildren, Kyle and Kory Long, Natalie and Allison Souza, Amanda Szymanski and Francesca Souza, Samantha Rogers, Kaleigh and Zachary Zern, Alyssa and Drew Carson; and her great-grandchildren, Kyle, Amelya, Lukas, Carter, Molly, Leah, Emma, Layla, John, Alex, Charlotte and Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main Street, Terryville, Tuesday March 30th morning from 9:00 to 11:00am. A private burial service will immediately follow at Hillside Cemetery, Terryville.
