WATERTOWN, CT - Christopher Jesus Ortiz “CJ”, 31, of Watertown, entered the gates of heaven on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 in Waterbury as the result of a motor vehicle accident.

Christopher was born in Bridgeport, CT on April 7, 1990, a son of Juan D. Ortiz, Jr. and Jeannette Sanchez. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. He attended Lincoln Technical Institute in New Britain, CT for auto mechanics and Bristol Technical Education Center in Bristol for becoming a machine operator. He worked for the Newport Academy in Bethlehem, CT., helping teens in need, which he got great satisfaction from. He was a car detailer by trade and worked for several detail shops in the area.

Christopher was raised by his paternal grandparents, Juan and Mirna Ortiz, who instilled in Christopher, to be a caring, strong and an independent person. Christopher was always there to help family, friends or anyone that was in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and whom ever had the chance to meet him.

Besides his parents, Christopher leaves to mourn, his seven brothers, Gerardo “Lalo” Ortiz of Waterbury, Jose Luis Ortiz of Watertown, Juan D. Ortiz III of Watertown, Brandon M. Ortiz of Watertown, Johnny Jenkins of Springfield, MA, Meizel Alderman of Stratford and Giovanni Garcia of Waterbury, his paternal grandparents, Juan and Mirna Ortiz, Sr. of Watertown, maternal grandfather, Antonio Sanchez of Puerto Rico, his aunts, Kristi Ortiz of Watertown, Cathy Ortiz of Oakville, Beatriz Archilla of Naugatuck and Elizabeth Sanchez of New York, his uncles, Anthony Sanchez of New York and Jose Archilla of Naugatuck, his cousins, who were considered brothers and sisters, Monica Ortiz, Avery Freeman, Lisette Ortiz, Isaiah Freeman, Joyelle and Manny Archilla. He was predeceased by an uncle, Luis Antonio Ortiz.

Arrangements: A funeral service will be held 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. till the time of the service at the funeral home.
