Obituary: John Lane, 67, Formerly of Woodbury

Born in New Haven County, CT on September 24, 1953, he lived in Woodbury most of his adult life.

WHITAKERS, NC – John Lane, age 67, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 peacefully at his home, he recently retired from Nash County Sheriff Department. Born in New Haven County, CT on September 24, 1953, living in Woodbury most of his adult life. He was the son of the late Stuart Ure Lane and Bertha Grisgraber Lane. He was also preceded in death by his brother, George Lane, and Peter Lane.

John loved to bass fish with his best buddies Paul and Bruce. He held a lifetime membership to the Bassmaster Club. In addition to, John also enjoyed NASCAR racing and spending time with family and friends telling a joke or two.

John is survived by his brother, Fredrick Lane (Barbara) of Tampa, FL; his sisters, Maryanne DeRosa and (Robert), of Mooresville, NC, Constance Gunderson (Rod), of Durango, CO, Donna Murphy (Richard) of Watertown, CT, Diane Palermo (Steve) of Waterbury, CT, sister-in-law, Jocelyn Lane (George) of Woodbury, CT, sister-in-law, Sharon Lane (Peter) of Whitakers, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews who will greatly miss his presence.

A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
