Joe lived in Prospect with his family since 1965 and retired from Uniroyal Chemical after many years of service.

September 30, 1930 ~ June 24, 2021 (age 90)

Prospect-Joseph Martin Bednarek, age 90, husband of the late Barbara (Marshall) Bednarek, passed away on Thursday June 24, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Born in Nanticoke, PA September 30, 1930, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Romanowski) Bednarek. Joe lived in Prospect with his family since 1965 and retired from Uniroyal Chemical after many years of service. He proudly served his country in the United States
Airforce. Joe was a hardworking family man and a jack of all trades.

He also enjoyed traveling with his wife Barbara.

Joe is survived by his children; his son Todd Bednarek and his wife Angela of Windermere, FL; his daughter Barbara Joe Wheelahan of Burlington; his siblings, Martin Joe Bednarek and his wife Joyce, Patricia Dent, and Carolyn Rider and her husband Dave, all of Pennsylvania; his seven grandchildren, John, Jared, Derek, Rebecca, Michelle, Rachel, and Paul; his five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Butch Bednarek and
several siblings.

His funeral will be held on Saturday July 3, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Naugatuck Valley Memorial /Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main Street, Naugatuck. Burial with military honors will follow in Prospect Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. To send an on-line
