Born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1925, Peg survived hard times in her youth, including the death of her older brother due to a brain tumor, but went on to live a rich, joyful and full life. She met John, a handsome sailor and cook after World War II, while working at Newington Children’s Hospital, and happily didn’t have to cook for the next 58 years.

Peg found happiness in the simplest of things, such as get-togethers with her family. She loved to travel and had a sense of adventure underneath her sheath of propriety and simplicity. She built wooden furniture, sewed pillows and quilts, made rugs, and was a regular at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harwinton. She volunteered to drive cancer patients to treatment for decades, and she made and donated hundreds of quilts for children well into her nineties. She was calm, thoughtful, generous, appreciative, and loved her family.
