Ms. Mari “Dolly” Petro, age 82, passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday, May 13, 2021.
Born in Waterbury on July 28, 1938, Mari was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Spina) Petro. She worked in retail most her of life and was a familiar face in the Waterbury Mall at Lerner’s and JC Penny Department store where she worked for over 15 years until her retirement. Mari was a pleasant and funny lady who always had a good time. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and trips to the casino with family and friends and was a fan of country music, especially live shows.

Mari had a contagious laugh that was known and recognized by many. Baking and crafting brought her joy. Mari was a wonderful and generous gift giver and always found the perfect treasure for everyone. Her flair at Christmas far surpassed most holidays. Her decorations, gifts and meals are memories her family will always cherish and strive to carry on with new generations.
Mari is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Liberatore and her husband Jerome of Watertown, and Jacqueline Schupp of Griswold and her grandchildren, Erica Lemmon and her husband Mack, Lauren Liberatore, Adam Liberatore and his wife Nicole, Andrew Schupp, John Schupp, Joshua Schupp and Bill Dumschatt. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Cash and Layden Lemmon and Foster Liberatore, her brothers Frank Petro of Wolcott and Michael Petro and his wife Pat of Watertown. She was predeceased by her son John Dumschatt and her brother Anthony Petro.

A celebration of Mari’s life will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 3:00-5:00pm with a service from 4:30-5:00pm at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Maiorano Funeral Home.
