Devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother

Mrs. Marie (Mancini) Montory, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, in the VITAS Unit at Saint Mary’s Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert D. Montory of 69 years until his death in 2014.

Affectionately known as “Dolly”, Marie was born on September 8, 1930 in Waterbury and raised in Oakville. She was the daughter of the late Rosario and Madeline (Trotta) Mancini. She was a graduate of Watertown High School and worked for CL&P for several years before her years as a stay-at-home mom. As her daughters grew up, Marie took a job in the kitchen at Holy Cross High School so she could tailor her hours around her family’s schedule. She selflessly retired at the age of 50 to help raise her four grandchildren. Her highest priority was her family whom she loved and cherished with the entirety of her heart and soul. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a selfless, compassionate, and caring person who always put her own needs last. She needed to know every person with whom she came in contact and always had an empathetic word and smile for them.

Aside from Marie’s devotion to family, her Catholic faith was of the utmost importance. She was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Church in Waterbury. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, cooking baked eggplant for their weekly bingo nights.

She enjoyed crocheting blankets, annual trips to Wildwood Crest, NJ with her family, and cooking for family gatherings. Known for driving around in her station wagon full of her daughters’ friends, she loved to take them all to their events and activities. Her most treasured hobby was creating memory books for each of her grandchildren filled with memorabilia and accolades of each of their lives.

The memories she gave her family throughout the years will always be the cornerstone of her family legacy.

Marie is survived by her daughters Rosemary Agati and her husband Vincent and Barbara Lefevre, all of Oakville; her grandchildren Robert Lefevre and his wife Amy, Melissa Bochicchio and her husband Matthew, Emily Agati, and Arianna Agati; and her great-grandchildren Audrey, Weston, Avery, and Ethan. She also leaves her sister Geraldine Rocco as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Montory, her brothers Daniel Mancini and Anthony Mancini and her sister Rosemary Fappiano.

Her funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 309 S. Main St., Waterbury. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in Marie’s name may be made to: The Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1261 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Maiorano Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements.
