WATERBURY, CT - Nancy Santoro, 86, of Waterbury, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Domenic Santoro for 61 years, who she missed dearly over the last year.

Nancy was born in Waterbury, CT on November 20, 1934, the third of five children of Philip and Catherine (Dowling) McEvoy. She had fond memories of spending summers at Fulton Park, where her grandfather lived as the park’s caretaker. Nancy graduated from Wilby High School and earned an Associates Degree from Post College.

Nancy had a successful career in banking, starting as a teller at Colonial Bank. During her career she served as lead-teller, advanced to bank manager and finished her career as an officer at Bank of Boston. She turned down several promotions so she could focus on raising her family. Nancy also served as President of Catholic Family Services in Waterbury for a brief period.

Nancy enjoyed traveling and trips to the casino with her husband, as well as attending her grandchildren’s sporting events (particularly hockey) and visiting with family. In her later years, she could always be found in her favorite chair watching game shows and any and all sporting events.

Nancy leaves a daughter, Diane Santoro-San Angelo, of Plantsville; three sons, Anthony Santoro and his companion Susan Wampler, of Middlebury; Joe Santoro and his fiancé Tia Scappini, of Wolcott; and Dean Santoro, of Waterbury, as well as three treasured grandchildren, Kevin San Angelo, Kara Santoro and Joseph Santoro. She is survived by her sister Carol Faunce, of Thomaston, her brother Joseph McEvoy, of Naugatuck, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Marie Lyons and her brother Robert McEvoy.

Nancy was proud to share her Irish heritage with her children and grandchildren, and equally proud to be part of a large Italian family. Nancy’s family would like to thank the first responders and the emergency staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, all of whom made extraordinary efforts to save her.

Arrangements: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday July 6, 2021 at Mary Mother of the Church Parish-SS. Peter and Paul Church 67 Southmayd Road Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. There are no calling hours. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury has been entrusted with the arrangements.
