WATERTOWN - Robert Bessette, 94, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 5, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 74 years to Theresa (Gelinas) Bessette.

Robert was born in Waterbury on November 20, 1926 to the late Ernest and Rose (Collette) Bessette. After his schooling, Robert enlisted in the military and served as Private First Class in the United States Marine Corps. Receiving an honorable discharge, Robert left the service and started dating his childhood friend, Theresa, who he grew up next door to and who he would spend the next 74 years with. Robert loved to play golf, travel back and forth to Florida with Theresa where they had a second home, and spend as much time as possible with their family.

Besides his wife, Robert will be missed by his daughter: Diane (Bessette) Kenney and her husband Timothy Kenney; his two sons David Bessette and his wife Lisa (Sciortino) Bessette and Dennis Bessette. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Lori (Kenney) Kooger and her husband Alan Kooger, Timothy Kenney Jr, Kristi (Bessette) D'Andrea and her husband Douglas D'Andrea, Ryan Bessette and his wife Kristin (Sirois) Bessette, Collin Bessette and his fiancé Tania Eicoff, and Stephen Bessette and his fiancé Cait DiBona. Seven Great-Grand Children: Brooklyn D'Andrea, Page Kenney, Haley Kooger, Emily Kooger, Ryan T Bessette, Brayden Bessette and Ashton Bessette; brother: Richard Bessette; and many other extended family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Robert at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South in Southbury. A visitation will be held immediately prior to the mass in the Daily Chapel of the church from 10:00AM - 10:45AM. Interment with military honors will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
