WATERBURY, CT - Stella (Mihalakos) Condaris, age 90, passed away at her home on Friday, March 19, 2021, in peace and in the warm embrace of her family. Stella was born on September 14, 1930 in Waterbury, Connecticut and grew up with her large extended Greek family.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Kalliope (Kachulis) Mihalakos and the beloved wife of the late James Condaris. Together Stella and James shared forty-four years of love and companionship until James’s passing in 1999. Raised with much love, compassion and caring for others, Stella cherished life in her home city of Waterbury.

Graduating from Crosby High School, Class of 1948, Stella then attended Post College and later worked as a secretary for the Assistant Superintendent of Waterbury Public Schools, where she met her husband James.

All who knew Stella were blessed by her kindness, compassion, generosity, and sense of fun. Stella enjoyed a life well lived that translated into her tireless commitment to her Greek Orthodox faith. Perfect moments for Stella included being surrounded by her family and friends, going to church, playing cards or doing jumbles with her grandchildren, or simply chatting on the phone with friends and family.

Left to honor her legacy and treasure her memories are her daughters, Christine Condaris of Williamstown, MA and Karen Condaris-Beati and her husband Mark Beati of Chelmsford, MA, her four grandchildren, Nicholas Beati, Elenna Beati, Alexandra Mitchell and her husband Alexander, and Petrea Mannello. She also leaves behind her beloved brother Honorable Socrates H. Mihalakos and his wife Joan of Vero Beach, FL formerly of Waterbury, and treasured cousin, Antoinette “Toni” Coukis, as well as her many nieces and nephews, all of whom she dearly loved. She was predeceased by her sisters Mary Bergeris, Freeda Mattison, and brothers James Mihalakos and Stephen Mihalakos.

Special thanks to Anthony Fillie and Carol Ann Gillis who helped Stella stay in her beloved home and became family to her.
