Waterbury, CT - Yimay Marie Rivera-Colón, 22, of Waterbury, was given her wings and became an angel on Thursday, May 27, 2021 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side, after a courageous battle with lymphoma.

Yimay was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 18, 1998, a daughter of Armando Rivera and Yamir Colón. At age 8, Yimay and her family moved to Waterbury, and she later was a graduate of Wilby High School. Yimay enjoyed being a gamer, had a passion for anime, and adored her cats.

By far, Superman was Yimay’s idol and favorite superhero, and she truly was her family’s Superman. Yimay would always be seen with a big smile on her face, no matter what the day or the circumstance, especially when she would see her twin baby brothers, whom she was so in love with. Yimay loved her family, and her family loved her, showing an immense amount of love and support throughout her life.

Besides her parents of Waterbury, Yimay leaves behind her siblings, Armando Rivera Jr., Yeimilyz Rivera, the twins, William and Carlos Rivera, all of Waterbury, her grandparents, Maria del Carmen Jorge Roman (Mami Carmen) of Waterbury, Alejandro Colón of Ponce, Carmen Giorbolini, and Miguel Rivera, all of Ponce, Puerto Rico, her great grandparents, Pedro and Elba Jorge of Waterbury, as well as a countless amount of loving and supportive family members and friends whom she adored.

The Rivera family would like to thank the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Connecticut Children’s Hospital, the Jimmy Fund Clinic, Boston Children’s Hospital, Hartford Healthcare Hospice, DaVita Bloomfield Dialysis, and the countless amounts of doctors and nurses throughout Yimay’s life, who showed her so much exceptional love, help, and care. Her family will be forever grateful for all of you.

Arrangements: A funeral service for Yimay will be held on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
