Parents Group Wants Mask Restriction Lifted In Naugatuck: Report

The parents, part of UnmaskOurKidsCT.com, staged a small demonstration this week protesting the requirement of masks in school.

NAUGATUCK, CT — About two-dozen parents and students staged a small demonstration Thursday outside the Naugatuck Board of Education offices to protest the continued requirement that students wear masks at school due to the coronavirus pandemic, reported WTNH-TV.

The parents, part of planned protests in Connecticut spearheaded by UnmaskOurKids.com, said they are fed up with the state dictating to municipalities that children continue to wear masks in school.

Masks remain a requirement in Connecticut schools through the current school year, but whether that will continue in the fall is uncertain.

The Naugatuck parents said they are frustrated by the requirement, because many children have difficulty breathing through the masks, and some have developed rashes because of them.

Pleas to the Board of Education to discuss removing the mandate have not been answered by district officials, the parents said.
