Parents Should Receive Back to School Letters Soon

Some Naugatuck parents have already received them, while others are wondering what specific supplies are being requested.

Many parents of Naugatuck school children are anxiously awaiting letters from teachers telling them what to expect for the new year and what kind of school supplies to bring on day one.

The parents have taken to social media and have reached out to Naugatuck Patch via our Facebook page because they have not received the letters yet. They have asked us to help them get answers, so we called the Board of Education today to find out the scoop. Here's what we learned:

  • The letters were supposed to go out by today, Friday, Aug. 23
  • All parents should receive them by Saturday or Monday - Tuesday at the latest
  • Some schools sent their letters out early this week
Parents who reached out said they don't want to do school supply shopping until they know exactly what is needed because some teachers ask students to have specific supplies. Some parents also expressed disappointment that they have not received the list yet because they were hoping to shop for school supplies during Connecticut's Tax Free Week, during which sales taxes are lifted. The Tax Free Week ends Saturday, Aug. 24.
