Passenger Killed In 1-Vehicle Crash On I-84: State Police
The crash occurred at about 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
WATERBURY, CT — A passenger was killed in a one-vehicle crash on I-84 Thursday night when he was ejected from the vehicle after it had struck a median metal guardrail on the exit 18 off-ramp in Waterbury, according to Connecticut State Police. The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of next of kin.
The crash occurred westbound at about 7:45 p.m. after the operator of the vehicle, Adid Rivera Jr. of Waterbury, lost control as he exited the thruway and crashed into the guardrail.
"Two occupants were ejected from the vehicle," State police said. "One sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupant was transported to Waterbury Hospital for suspected minor injuries."

The crash resulted in the I-84 westbound exit 18 off-ramp being shut down for
several hours while state police investigated.
"This accident is still under investigation."
