Route 8 Onramp in Union City to Be Closed for 10 Weeks

The closure is necessary to complete a pedestrian greenway project.

The southbound entrance to Route 8 at Exit 28 in the Union City section of Naugatuck will be closed for about 10 weeks beginning Monday, July 8, as Naugatuck continues work on its pedestrian greenway project.

The $2 million pedestrian greenway project runs from Union City near Waterbury to the center of Naugatuck at the Whittemore Bridge on Maple Street.

During the project, motorists will be detoured on North Main Street to the southbound entrance ramp at Exit 27. The ramp closure is required for construction of retaining walls and fencing necessary for the completion of the greenway.
