"Two-way rail service and additional trains will only help residents in areas such as Naugatuck, Ansonia, Derby and Beacon Falls," said Sen. Cabrera. "I am grateful to Governor Lamont for this proposed investment in our community as this has the potential to make going to and from the area easier for working class residents and enable people from outside of the area to enjoy all the Valley has to offer."
On Wednesday the governor discussed how the Metro-North Railroad branch in Waterbury will help boost the area. Funding for this transportation project will come from the governor's projected budget if enacted and could be instrumental in helping people from New York City and Fairfield County connect with the Valley, helping many get to work, school and other attractions in the area. Amid the pandemic, more people are moving to the Connecticut from New York, according to multiple studies.
