Sharon Playhouse Offers 2021 SUMMER OF FUN

with Live Entertainment Starting July 3rd

With the success of the outdoor Drive-In and Patio Cabaret stages last summer, live entertainment will return to the Sharon Playhouse this summer…only bigger and better!

As Artistic Director Alan M-L Wager says, “Last year we offered the community an outlet to enjoy outside entertainment in a safe environment. We weren’t sure if it would be something people wanted and would be comfortable with, but were thrilled with the response and decided to offer even more options this season, while adhering to the wishes of the majority of our patrons to stay outside one more season.”

Managing Director Robert Levinstein added, “Following Broadway’s lead with reopening in the Fall, we hope to get back inside the historic playhouse by the end of the summer season at the top of October, but are working to make it even sooner, if at all possible.”

The 2021 Summer Of Fun opens with the return of AMERICA’S SWEETHEARTS with a Patriotic Extravaganza on Saturday, July 3rd.

The Drive-In season continues with DANCING DREAM…ABBA tribute at its’ best…on July 10th, the return of the Sharon Playhouse original smash MOTOWN UNDER THE STARS on July 24th, Sammy, Dean and Frank come by with SWINGIN’ WITH THE RAT PACK on August 7th, The amazing vocals of the gents of THE SOUNDS OF SWING AND SOUL on August 21st, Our fantastic LASER ENCOUNTER returns for two showings featuring the hits of the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) on August 27th and 28th, Buddy Holly takes the stage in the form of THE RAVE-ONS is this high energy hit show on September 11th. The Drive-In season concludes with the return of the CONNECTICUT VIRTUOSI CHAMBER ORCHESTRA on September 18th.

The Patio Cabaret series expands from 3 shows last year to 13 this year! Both dinner and now Brunch options will be available. On the schedule are Drag Darling CACOPHONY DANIELS on July 17th, The amazing musical sounds of THE EMERALD TRIO on JULY 25TH, Patsy Cline returns to the Playhouse in the guise of Broadway’s CARTER CALVERT in WALKIN’ AFTER MIDNIGHT on July 30th, Tony nominated Broadway star of Phantom of the Opera HUGH PANARO appears on August 6th, The comedy styling of THE BERSERKSHIRES take the stage on August 14th, Local favorite MICHAEL BROWN returns to the playhouse on AUGUST 20th, Broadway/TV/Film legend JOHN DAVIDSON brings his show full of charm, music and stories on August 22nd, MARIA B. HICKEY comes home to the playhouse with her all new show on September 3rd, Hilarious KERRI LOUISE returns from last year to get you rolling in the aisles on September 10th, The sassy, sensational JALYNN STEELE sings up a storm on September 12th, The legendary WANDA HOUSTON returns with an all new show specifically for the playhouse on September 17th, Star of our Beauty and The Beast TREVOR MARTIN brings his show NIGHT AND DAY to the patio cabaret on September 19th and playhouse favorite and star of our Anything Goes and Crazy For You, AMANDA LEA LAVERGNE brings her all new show on September 24th.

But that’s not all…not by a longshot!

Youth Theatre returns in a big way with FOUR different productions. Our teens perform and all new hip 60’s flavored version of A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM on July 11th, there are TWO different productions of SEUSSICAL, kids on July 18th and August 22nd, FROZEN, JR hits the stage with magic and music on July 31 & August 1st and our favorite little ones will delight you with SHARON PLAYHOUSE STARS on August 15th.

Plus this year inaugurates our very own SHARON PLAYHOUSE WRITERS PLAYGROUND…a festival of new 10 minute plays written and performed by our incredibly talented pool of local writers and actors on August 28th & 29th.
