Sobriety Checkpoint Scheduled For Naugatuck Thursday: PD

The checkpoint is scheduled for 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Naugatuck Police Department announced Tuesday that it was conducting a sobriety checkpoint operation from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Thursday.

The checkpoint will be held at the Salem Bridge (Route 63) between South Main and Cherry streets.

At such operations, officers pull over motorist to check to see if they are operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

"The Naugatuck Police Department is legally required to make a public notification prior to conducting a sobriety checkpoint as we get inquiries on these instances about why we would announce this checkpoint," officials wrote on Facebook.
