Two Churches in Naugatuck may Close
Archdiocese is looking at closing as many as 38 churches around the state
Under a plan being considered by the Hartford Archdiocese, two Naugatuck churches, St. Hedwig and St. Mary are on the chopping block to be closed according to a report obtained by the Waterbury Sunday Republican.
The plan is to look at 38 churches for closure and limit the times and masses in another 60 churches. According to the story it is in an effort to "consolidate and strengthen the shrinking faith."
The plan will be rolled out in increments and not in one fell swoop. Parishioners will have the chance to seek out other places to worship and try out before their home church is closed or moved to limited masses.
