The clinic will be operating three days a week from May 17 through May 26 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 8 am to 4 pm. The closure comes after a dramatic drop in COVID-19 vaccine appointments at the site as more vaccine and more options have become available to the public.

Waterbury HEALTH will continue to operate its drive-thru clinic at the Naugatuck Armory. Any second dose vaccines that would have been administered at Post after May 26 will be rescheduled to the Naugatuck drive thru clinic and all patients notified. Waterbury HEALTH will be shifting some of its resources from the Post Clinic to the City of Waterbury and will continue its vaccination work in the community as the city works to increase vaccination rates.

The drive-thru clinic opened Jan. 19. It was the first in Waterbury and largest drive-thru COVID-19 clinic in New Haven County.

“We are proud of our great partnership with Post University and the incredible collaboration between our organizations and the city of Waterbury to vaccinate the community,” said Waterbury HEALTH President and CEO Lester Schindel.

“Making the campus available for the vaccine operation was the right thing to do for our community and I’m proud of what we accomplished, our associates who participated in this critical effort, and to work with the elite professionals at Waterbury HEALTH,” said Post University CEO & President John L. Hopkins.

The Post Clinic was able to deliver as many as 700 vaccine shots in multiple lanes a day during the height of its operation. The decision to close comes as 70 percent of adults in the state have been vaccinated and as daily first dose appointments at the site have dropped to single digits.
