2 Hospitalized After Crash In Newtown

Two drivers were taken to the hospital after a crash Sunday in Newtown, according to police.

NEWTOWN, CT — Two women were hospitalized with minor injuries after a crash Sunday on South Main Street in Newtown, according to police. The accident happened around 5:40 p.m. May 17 on South Main Street when a southbound vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane.

Police said a 2020 Nissan Rogue that was being driven by Heidi M. Schuster was traveling southbound in the northbound lane as another vehicle, a 2019 Nissan Rogue, was approaching the intersection at Bryan Lane. Both drivers swerved into the southbound lane to try to avoid a collision but ended up crashing, according to police.

The 2020 Nissan’s bumper struck the other Nissan’s front-right bumper and its entire right side. The 2020 Nissan went forward in the southbound lane after the crash while the other Nissan was sent onto Bryan Lane, according to police.

Schuster and the 18-year-old driver of the 2019 Nissan were both taken to Danbury Hospital for treatment of suspected minor injuries, according to police. Schuster was issued an infraction for failure to drive upon the right.
