IDs Of 2 Newtown Residents Killed In Crash Released: UPDATE
"Our hearts are heavy this morning and our prayers are with both families...," a police official said.

NEWTOWN, CT — Two Newtown residents, Elliot Gregory, 20, and Philip Zuvanich, 19, were killed in an early morning singe-car accident, police said. The names of the victims were released Sunday afternoon.
"Our hearts are heavy this morning and our prayers are with both families as they go through this most difficult time. Our community mourns with them," said Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.
At 2 a.m. Sunday, Newtown Police with the Newtown Ambulance Service and Sandy Hook Fire Department responded to Berkshire Road. (State Route 34) in the area of Jordan Hill Road to investigate the report of a motor vehicle accident.

Emergency responders found an older model Jeep Cherokee had driven off the westbound shoulder of Berkshire Road into a hundred foot, heavily wooded ravine, police said.
Two people were inside the vehicle. The occupants of this vehicle were both Newtown residents, but not related. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the two people dead on scene as a result of the single car accident, police said.

The State of Connecticut Medical Examiner’s Office was called to the scene and are investigating the cause of death. The Newtown Police Accident Reconstruction team was called to the scene and will be taking over the investigation. Police have spoken to witnesses of the accident. The name of the victims are being held at this time pending notification to families.
