Another New Leader Claims Top Spot In Field Hockey Poll

Four schools improved their positions from last week in the most recent balloting of high school field hockey coaches.

Newtown High School emerged from the latest balloting of high school field hockey coaches as the new top team in Connecticut, collecting six of seven first-place votes to move up from last week's second-place ranking. Runner-up Guilford garnered the other top nod, moving from fourth into second.

Here are the top 10, with last week's ranking in parentheses, as well as all other teams receiving support.

  3. New Canaan (lw: 6)
  4. Darien (lw: 1)
  5. Norwalk (lw: 3)
  6. North Branford (lw: 8)
  7. Staples (lw: 7)
  8. Immaculate (lw: 5)
  9. Granby (lw: 9)
  10. Ridgefield (lw: 10)

Also receiving votes: Wethersfield, Westbrook.
