Connecticut State Trooper Receives Support from Special Olympians
A supporter of the Special Olympics and the athletes, the athletes returned the favor to the Sandy Hook first responder in his time of need.

Connecticut State Trooper Carlo Guerra, who was recently profiled on ESPN, has been a Special Olympics volunteer and law enforcement guardian of the Flame of Hope as it travels to the opening ceremony of annual Special Olympics Connecticut summer games.

While Guerra has supported the organization and the athletes for the past 15 years, they have recently turned the tables and are showing support to the trooper, a Sandy Hook Elementary School first responder.

Guerra has received cards, letters, and hard-earned medals from athletes all over the country, showing him that he had not been forgotten. He had been there for them, so they were there for him.
