Dogs Available for Adoption at Newtown Shelter

Dutch and Angel are looking for forever homes.

Dutch and Angel are two pups who are looking for forever homes.

Dutch is a male Catahoula Leopard Dog mix who weighs approximately 50 pounds and is around 4 years old. This is a very intelligent dog breed with keen hunting instincts, but also does well as a house dog if kept busy with daily exercise and training.

It is important to remember that, as a pack animal, his status as a member of your home and not the leader, should be established early in his new home. Once he is aware of that, he will willingly accept his role as a loyal and faithful family member.

Dutch is tolerant of some dogs but it would be wise to introduce him to other dogs slowly. He will do well with children but not cats.

Angel is an older female Labrador Retriever mix. This very gentle lady walks well on a leash and does well with people, but does not like the company of other dogs or cats.

She is a sweet dog and has no trouble at all in finding a nice comfortable spot to snooze when nothing exciting is happening.

Angel has been a resident of the shelter for the past 2+ years while a court case was being settled regarding her ownership. Thankfully, that case is now resolved and she is free to be welcomed into a new home.

To meet either of these dogs, stop by the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center, located on Old Farm Road or call 203-426-6900.
