Edward Joseph Raymond, 80, of Newtown, Passed Away Peacefully

Mr. Raymond was a co-owner of Pootatuck Properties Shopping Area in Sandy Hook.

NEWTOWN, CT — Edward Joseph Raymond, 80, of Newtown, died peacefully at home on November 24. He was born in New Haven on July 14, 1936. Ed was a graduate of Quinnipiac University with a business degree and worked for Sheehan Tire Company in Bridgeport. Years later, he learned carpentry and joined his partner and friend, Gordon Anderson, as general home contractors, primarily in Newtown.

For the past 15 years, he has been a co-owner of Pootatuck Properties Shopping Area in Sandy Hook, where he enjoyed keeping the grounds pristine and helping his tenants. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, for 25 years; a son, Ed Raymond, Jr., of Delaware, a daughter, Sissy Smith, and her husband, Douglas, of Pennsylvania, a stepson, Richard Guman and his wife, Noreen, of Newtown, 2 stepdaughters, Marni McNiff, and her husband, Joseph, of Brookfield and Stephanie Forshaw, and her husband, David, of Middlebury and eleven cherished grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main St., Newtown, on Wednesday, November 30, from 4-7 pm. All other services and interment in Newtown Village Cemetery will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Soaring Eagle Heritage Living Center, P.O.
