NEWTOWN, CT — Matthew Hanson can't seem to stop getting arrested. In less than two months, the 31-year-old from Manchester has racked up arrests at a remarkable rate, amassing a trove of pending charges for harassment, stalking, burglary, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and violating a protective order.

In fact, according to a news release from the Newtown Police Department announcing Hanson's latest run-in with the law, he has been arrested no less than eight times since April 1.

On that day, according to online court records, Hanson was arrested on two counts of harassment and released on bond. It would be a pattern that repeated itself: Records show he was arrested on May 6 and May 8; then, on May 14, Hanson was arrested yet again after officers with the Manchester Police Department responded to a 911 call for an "unwanted person" — and officers found him at 3 a.m. in the driveway of a residence on Surrey Trail in Newtown.

Released again, Hanson was arrested on May 19 for violating the conditions of his release. However, he was permitted to buy his freedom with ten percent of a $5,000 bond.

Days later, in the early morning hours of May 24, Hanson returned to the area of Surry Trail in Newtown. Once again, he was arrested.

"Officers arrived quickly to that area and located the suspect's vehicle attempting to leave," the Newtown Police department said in the news release. Currently, court records for the May 24 incident show Hanson is facing two new misdemeanors and additional felonies for violating an order of protection, criminal mischief and stalking.

And that's not all: In its Facebook post, Newtown police added that Hanson had actually been arrested in Manchester earlier that same day on charges of harassment and misuse of 911.

Hanson remains in custody on a $100,000 bond.
