Masonicare To Sell Newtown Facility

NEWTOWN, CT — Masonicare has announced plans to sell its Newtown campus to Athena Health Care Systems for $13.1 million.

Athena owns 21 senior care facilities across the state, according to the New Haven Register.

The Newtown facility has 136 long-term and rehabilitation patients and 55 assisted living apartments. There are 275 employees at the Newtown location. Masonicare officials said the facility had lost millions of dollars over several years due to Medicaid issues.
