An office park near the corner of Mile Hill Road and Queen Street will be the setting for a continuation of a debate surrounding the gun industry Monday morning, as representatives from the Newtown Action Alliance say they will hold a press conference in front of the headquarters of the National Shooting Sports Foundation.
"In Newtown, we will expose the gun industry’s shameful record of selling military-style assault rifles that are routinely used in mass shootings, while at the same time it opposes new laws and policies to help prevent gun violence,” representatives for the Newtown Action Alliance said in a statement released Monday night.
Meanwhile, the NSSF is hosting the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade) Show in Las Vegas, "the largest and most comprehensive trade show for all professionals involved with the shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries,” according to its website. NAA representatives singled out the conference as a reason for their appearance at NSSF headquarters.
The NAA’s Dave Stowe, Andy Pelosi from Gun Free Kids, Ron Pinciaro from Connecticut Against Gun Violence and Newtown families will attend the press conference, starting at 9:00 a.m., according to representative. Patch will have coverage from the conference later today.
