New Stratford School Named for Victoria Soto
The school, a replacement for Honeyspot House, will open this fall.

A new school in Stratford has been named for Victoria Soto, reports the CT Post.
Soto, a teacher who was killed in the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, went to school in Stratford and her family still lives there.
The school will be a replacement for Honeyspot House and part of the Stratford Academy Magnet School complex on Birdseye Street.

It cost $18.3 million to build and the state picked up 56 percent of the cost. The school is 36,000 square feet and has 14 classrooms - with every one having a smart board, Wifi, and a cordless headset sound system. There is also a gymnasium, a cafeteria, a library, and art room.

In the fall, there will be 220 pre-kindergarten through second graders, and the capacity is 290 students.
The Soto family added their own touch to the school, a mosiac created with the help of Ben’s Bells - which is an organization that works to inspire individuals and communities to engage in kindness education.
