Newtown Baseball Team to Play in Championship

The Newtown 11-year-old Cal Ripken team has advanced to the regional championship, reports the News-Times.

Newtown defeated Norwalk 3-2 on Tuesday and will now face the winner of Wednesday’s loser’s bracket final between Norwalk and Swanzey, N.H., in the championship round of the double-elimination tournament on Thursday.

Norwalk had defeated Newtown four times this season, but the fifth time was the charm for Newtown.

Zander Kasbarian pitched a complete game and scattered seven hits and one walk in the victory.
