Newtown July 4th Fireworks: 2018 Guide
While there are no fireworks in Newtown, there are plenty within a short drive. Find out where to see the star-spangled celebrations.

NEWTOWN, CT - Wondering where you can see fireworks as the Fourth of July approaches? Here's everything within a short drive.
Brookfield
The Candlewood Lake (36 Hayestown Road) fireworks will take place on Saturday, June 30, with a rain date of July 1. You can view the fireworks on land at Danbury Town Park or by boat.

If you are viewing the event from land, know that Todd Kozakwicz of Carvel will be providing continuous free shuttle bus service to and from the fireworks show from 6-11 p.m. Carvel is located at the North Street Shopping Center 1 Padanaram Road in Danbury.
If you are viewing the event from the water, please be prepared:
- CLA Marine Patrol and CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's EnCon Police will have a significant presence on the water, please follow their directions for everyone's safety.
- All boats will be required to remain north of City Island and on the western half of the Lake. Marine Patrol and EnCon Police will direct boaters to the proper locations.
- All boats MUST demonstrate they have the proper safety equipment on board, notably sufficient and proper Personal Flotation Devices (life vests) for each person on board and working navigation and anchor lights for your vessel. Safety checkpoints will be set up for all boats entering the Bay. Having your lights on and having each person hold their PFD up (or wearing it if required by law) will help keep things moving smoothly.
- The area beyond the checkpoints is a temporary NO WAKE ZONE.
- When leaving at the end of the show, exit at a NO WAKE SPEED, utilizing the eastern half of the Lake.

Fireworks will begin at dark.
Danbury
The fireworks display from SummerStage at Danbury Fair Mall, located at 7 Backus Avenue, is scheduled for Friday, July 6 with a rain date of Monday July 9 The pre-party starts at 6:00 p.m. in the mall overflow lot with live music from local bands, food trucks and more! Fireworks will begin at dark.
Redding
The Redding Historical Society's Rock'n Roots Revival features a day full of live music on Saturday, June 30, beginning at 1 p.m. The fireworks are scheduled to begin 9:45 p.m.
The event will be held at the Lonetown Farm and Museum, located at 43 Lonetown Road (Rte. 107).
Admission for Redding residents (bring I.D.) is $10, $5 for Redding seniors and students.
Admission for Non-Redding residents is $20, $10 for seniors and students.
Kids under 12 are free.
The "fireworks only option" is $20 per car, beginning at 9 p.m.
Rain date is July 1.
Wilton
The Wilton 4th of July celebration will take place on Wednesday July 4th at the Wilton High School athletic complex. (Raindate July 5th)
Schedule of events:
- 8:30 a.m.: 5K Freedom Run Road Race Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. Fee: $20.00 Ages 15 and Up $10.00 ages 14 and under
- 12:o0 p.m.: Republicans vs. Democrats Softball Game
- 5 p.m.: Music by DJ Dance To the Music
- 9:30 p.m.: Fireworks!
This entire event is funded through donations. Patron parking passes are being sold at the Parks & Recreation office beginning at $35.00. Patron passes will guarantee a spot right up until the fireworks. Patron parking is located at the tennis courts, Cider Mill, the high school athletic parking, or the high school central office lot.
The night of the event a $20.00 general admission parking donation is requested. The general admission will be at Comstock, Middlebrook, the High School North lot, and Allen’s Meadow.
Food truck vendors will include the Pizza Truck, College Creamery, Bubble & Brew Tea, and El Placerito Tacos.
Ridgefield
The 4th of July fireworks celebration at Ridgefield High School, 700 North Salem Road, is planned for July 4, 2018. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. Rain date is July 5.
- No admittance is allowed without a $20 parking pass which can be purchased with cash or check only at Fairfield County Bank, Ridgefield Town Hall or Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce.
- Parking will be available at Ridgefield High School, Barlow Mountain, and Scotland Elementary. Shuttle buses will be provided to and from Barlow Mountain, and Scotland Elementary. Handicapped parking is available at Ridgefield High School.
- Fireworks will commence at dark.
Weston
Weston Parks and Recreation and Fairfield Bank will be presenting "Weston's Family 4th Celebration 2018" at Weston Middle School field, on Wednesday, July 4th.
No entry from Lords Highway after 7 p.m. School Road and Route 57 only.
Please arrive prior to 8 p.m. and avoid the fireworks traffic rush.
4:30 p.m. Ticket gates open on School Road
- $20.00 per car for parking and admission (Priority Parking $30/car. Closer parking-easy in and out. Only 40 spots available. Must be purchased ahead of time.)
- $5.00 for walk in admission fee
- No charge for children 5 and under
5:00 - 9:00 p.m. Food Trucks, DTC Ice Cream Cart, RTC Glow Necklaces
6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Westport Community Band Performance
6:15 - 7:15 p.m. The Magic Genie performs
7:15 - 9:20 p.m. Big Deal Rock performs songs from the 70s, 80s, 90s and today.
9:20 p.m. Fireworks Display!
Bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the fireworks.
Note: there will be no seating allowed on artificial turf fields.
New Milford
The 2018 New Milford Fireworks Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 7 with a rain date of Friday, July 27. The celebration is organized by the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce.
The celebration will be held on the green in downtown New Milford. The crossover of Green and Bank Street will be closed at 2 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m.: The Women's Club of Greater New Milford will construct a giant birthday cake in honor of our nation's birthday.
- 6:30 p.m.: Opening Ceremony
- Welcome from the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce
- Invocation: Rev. Alex da Silva Souto, Pastor New Milford United Methodist Church
- National Anthem, performed by Perfect Timing
- Pete Bass, Mayor of New Milford
- Bill Buckbee, State Representative
- 7:00 p.m.: Perfect Timing performs on the bandstand
- Full Dark (approximately 9:30 p.m.): Fireworks will commence on Fort Hill/Stillmeadow
Note: Fort Hill Road, Peagler Hill and Town View will be closed during the fireworks.
