Since its creation back in 1962, this town parade, which will be held on Sept. 7, has grown to be the largest Labor Day Parade in the state. At least three generations of friends and neighbors have watched the local business’ floats, fancy cars, police department, fire departments, politicians, musicians, school groups, sports teams, and many more marchers parade down Main Street each year. This annual event helps to bring families together for life-long memories.
The Newtown Labor Day Parade is 100 percent self-funded and organized by volunteers. It is only through the continued generosity of the community that the parade marches through the streets of Newtown each year. This year, the goal is to raise $5,000 to ensure the costs of production and materials for the event. To this end, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up.

This year, the Newtown Labor Day Parade Committee is proud to introduce a new way for the community to help support the parade. Families, friends, and neighbors are invited to give thanks to loved ones through a Shout Out Ad in the program book. Each Shout Out Ad is $75 and includes ample room for customized pictures, text, and well wishes. The public and local businesses are invited to support the event as a sponsor or advertiser in the program book, which will be distributed to over 4,000 attendees at the parade.
Those interested in supporting the parade, either through sponsorships, advertisements, or donations can do so by visiting the Newtown Labor Day Parade website at www.newtownctlabordayparade.org or by donating directly at http://www.gofundme.com/w8g9h7ys.
