Newtown Man Killed In Saw Accident Trying To Clear Trees: Report
It was the second death in Connecticut during Tropical Storm Isaias.
NEWTOWN, CT — A Newtown man died Tuesday when his saw recoiled and struck him in the neck while he cut a tree downed by Tropical Storm Isaias, according to The News-Times.
Police found Stephen Caciopoli, 33, bleeding heavily on Mount Nebo Road around 8 p.m. after the portable masonry saw he used to cut the tree got wedged and recoiled when he tried to free it. Police, fire and ambulance personnel were unable to get the bleeding under control and Caciopoli was taken to Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, The News-Times reported.
It was the second death in Connecticut related to Tropical Storm Isaias. A 66-year-old Naugatuck man was killed Tuesday when he got out of his car to remove fallen branches from the road and was struck by a falling tree.
