Organizers: Inaugural Rooster Ball Will Be 'Highlight of Fall Social Season'

As part of this year's widely expanded Newtown Arts Festival, organizers are debuting a night of music and dance they hope will become a long-standing tradition in Newtown.

The Rooster Ball takes place 7:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at the Newtown Arts Festival's music tent at Fairfield Hills, with music provided by Eugene Dobb's Nu Callers, a West Haven-based live dance band.

Alongside the dancing, cocktails and dinner will be available for patrons in what organizers say "promises to be the highlight of the fall social season." After dinner, patrons will have the chance to join the dance in the lawn outside the tent.

Organizer Terry Sagedy says it's an idea he brought with him from a previous festival he organized in Atlanta.

"The tents, sounds and tables and chairs are there, so why not throw a party?" he says. "Hopefully it'll become a new Newtown tradition."

Tickets are $65 and available on the Newtown Arts Festival's website.
