Photos: Newtown Area Storm Aftermath
Patch readers shared some pretty amazing photos of the storm aftermath.
NEWTOWN, CT -- As of Friday morning, Eversource is reporting that 4,682 of Newtown's 11,338 customers are still without power. The utility hopes to have the town back online by Sunday at noon, which places it among the last municipalities to have service restored.
Many parts of Newtown sustained heavy storm damage with some possible tornado touchdowns. Statewide, an untold number of trees, power lines and utility poles were taken down during the storm and at least two deaths occurred.
Crews are still busy clearing the wreckage and setting the stage for power restoration. As you can see from the photos they've had to contend with entire trees in roadways.
