Police: Man Drags Loss Prevention Officer While Trying to Flee Newtown Big Y

The 30-year-old Danbury man also allegedly hit a parked vehicle that was occupied and contained three children.

A 30-year-old Danbury man is accused of dragging a Big Y Loss Prevention Officer as he tried to flee Big Y, reports the News-Times.

Richard D. Watson was approached by a Loss Prevention Officer from Big Y in the parking lot after he allegedly took items from the store. He got into his vehicle and backed out of the parking space, dragging the officer and striking a parked vehicle with occupants - including three children - inside.

He was located at a home in Danbury, hiding under a large pile of garbage.

Watson was charged with third-degree robbery, three counts of risk of injury to a minor, sixth-degree larceny, breach of peace, evading responsibility with physical injury, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
