Press release from the C.H. Booth Library:
Sept. 17, 2020
There will be a Turkey Trot this year! The C. H. Booth Library’s Turkey Trot Committee announces the opening of registration for a virtual race. The Newtown 5K Turkey Trot Road Race, which has become an annual community tradition, is a benefit for the C.H. Booth Library, and is essential to raise the funds the library needs to provide the services that our community expects. Last year’s race had almost 1,000 participants. Runners and walkers interested in signing up for the race can now register at www.newtownturkeytrot.com.

What is a virtual race? Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Turkey Trot will observe social distancingpractices and each participant can run on their own a 5k course of their choosing. Additionally runners can complete their course at any time over the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend and time themselves. Results can be submitted individually on the race website.
The Turkey Trot will provide an opportunity for the community to connect through the race website, Facebook page, and a virtual live event Thanksgiving morning. Will you prepare and train for the Turkey Trot? What inspires and motivates you? Will you run with family and friends? What course will you follow? Let Newtown know by posting your photos, videos, and comments.

“The Turkey Trot has been a Newtown holiday tradition for over a decade and an occasion for family and neighbors to come together.” said Tom Long, Race Director, Newtown Turkey Trot. "This year the race holds greater importance to raise essential funds for the library as other fundraising opportunities have been cancelled. We look forward to seeing people come out, share their experiences and support the library.”
