Senior Living Community Breaks Ground in Newtown

It will include 49 assisted-living homes, as well as 22 memory care residences developed specifically to support those with Alzheimer's.

NEWTOWN, CT -- Church Hill Village, a planned community for people suffering from Alzheimer's, has broken ground in Newtown.

Chicago-based Senior Living Corp. is the lead developer of the community, which will include 49 assisted-living apartment homes, as well as 22 memory care residences developed specifically to support those with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-impairing illnesses. The 66,000 square foot retirement community will sit on nearly four acres of land at the northeast corner of The Boulevard and Church Hill Road.

“What makes Church Hill Village so special is that it offers the latest from a care, design and amenity perspective while incorporating a warm and nurturing environment – all while backed with the expertise in operations from a veteran in senior living,” said Nancy Cutter, vice president of development, Senior Lifestyle Corporation. “We have worked to bring this innovative concept to market for many years and are excited to provide existing and potential future residents of Newtown offerings tailored for this historic New England town.”

"The community is designed to connect residents with nature by providing thoughtful integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, multiple accessible gardens, patios, outdoor activity areas and walking paths," the developer said in a release.

The development brings approximately 150 jobs to the local community during the expected 14-month construction period. Additionally, Senior Lifestyle expects to hire nearly 63 full-time equivalent jobs with both full- and part-time permanent positions.
