Tractor-Trailer Crashes Into Newtown Restaurant

NEWTOWN, CT — A tractor-trailer truck crashed into King's Restaurant on South Main Street around 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to police.

The driver of the crash sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

King's Restaurant wrote on its Facebook page that it will be closed Wednesday.

NBC CT News Anchor Heidi Voight shared photos of the damage and reports that "Firefighters tell me they had to cut a hole in the back of the cab, which you can see in the photos, to get the driver out. Police tell NBC Connecticut the driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. King's is closed today. View Heidi Voight's photos here.
