1 Seriously Injured In Merritt Parkway Crash In Norwalk: FD

Firefighters had to extricate the driver from her vehicle.

NORWALK, CT — A woman suffered life-threatening injuries early Wednesday in a one-car rollover crash northbound on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk between exits 40 and 41, according to fire officials.

The victim, the only person in the Honda Civic sedan, had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters using several hydraulic tools before she was rushed to Norwalk Hospital. Her condition is not known.

Fire officials said that the 4:15 a.m. crash occurred when the car veered off the thruway, struck a large rock and rolled over, landing upright in the right travel lane.

State Police temporarily closed the parkway northbound diverting traffic off at exit 40, Main Avenue in Norwalk, as they investigated the crash.
