Building Permits, Fees on the Rise in Norwalk

According to city officials, Norwalk saw an increase in building permits during the first two months of 2013. That increase also results in an increase in revenue.

The city of Norwalk has issued building permits for projects costing nearly $49 million in January and February of this year.

According to The Norwalk Hour, the city issued 77 permits in January which cost $24.7 million. In February, the city issued 114 permits, which cost $24.2 million.

"Construction activity is definitely on an upward trend," said William Ireland, Norwalk's chief building official, according to The Hour. "The rise in the permit trend is not storm related. Those permits are just starting to be issued on a regular basis."
